Here is some information about the developers of Genki Guide!
Aristotle “Aris” Yang is currently a freshman in college in the Bay Area, California. He started programming at the age of 9 creating games in Scratch within his first year. He has developed proficiency in multiple computer languages including Java, JavaScript, HTML, Python, and Swift. In the summer of 2021, he became interested in healthcare disparities and wanted to see if he could improve access to basic guideline based healthcare information for everyone. He enlisted the help of his father, Dr. Hugo Yang, M.D. (as medical consultant) and friend Jack Yu (as technical consultant) to create his first website to address this issue. He understands that in the United States we have a primary care healthcare crisis due to insurance and resource issues, but access to personalized, easy to read information should not be a limitation if people have access to the Internet. The website was created using logic based programming to show recommended guidelines based on an individual’s personal characteristics. If successful, Aris sees this as the first step in many to improve healthcare access for everyone.
Dr. Hugo Yang is a practicing physician who is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics. He graduated medical school at Boston University entering their 7-year honors medical program directly after high school. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and served as Chief Medical Resident prior to beginning clinical practice. With over 20 years of clinical experience, he has served in multiple leadership roles including Medical Director for Ambulatory Informatics for Sutter Health as well as an Associate Chair for Internal Medicine in the Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group. He has an interest in the use of technology to advance healthcare which led to his pursuit of an extra board certification in Clinical Informatics in 2016. Dr. Yang continues his love of medicine in his medical practice today with occasional consulting in healthcare and healthcare technology.
Jack Yu is currently a Chief Architect for a hospitality startup who has been working in Silicon Valley for over 20 years.
